Where It All Began
1970

Marquee Hire was born in a small New Zealand town with a single handcrafted tent, a borrowed trailer, and a dream to provide shelter that felt more like home. What started as a local service for weddings and fairs quickly earned a reputation for quality and reliability.

1985
With demand soaring, we expanded operations across the North and South Islands. We introduced larger-scale marquees and began catering to regional festivals, school events, and corporate gatherings — always keeping our promise of fast setup and weather-ready gear.
Custom Structures & Innovation
1995
Responding to unique client needs, we launched our custom design service — offering tailored marquee solutions for exhibitions, brand activations, and sporting events. It marked our shift from hire-only to full-scale design and manufacturing.
Crossing the Tasman to Australia
2008
Marquee Hire entered the Australian market, supplying structures for concerts, council events, and private clients. Our commitment to NZ-made quality helped us quickly stand out among competitors.
Glamping and Luxury Tents Introduced
